As Ryan started to become more interactive a year ago, Mommy and Daddy let him try new toys. This was Ryan's first experience in his exersaucer. He was really more excited to be upright without Mommy or Daddy holding him. He took awhile to figure out how to move around and play with the toys, but eventually he became a pro and would play for a little while.

I Got It
Woodbridge - When Mommy and Daddy unload from shopping trips, the downstairs items are put away and the upstairs items are put on the stairs to up in the next trip. As Mommy and Ryan were getting ready to head upstairs, Ryan decided that he could carry the items up. One of his new favorite phrases is "I got it". Unfortunately the items didn't end up upstairs, but dumped out of the bags. It was a good effort.

Flashback Photo of the Week
One year ago, Ryan experienced his first Memorial Day picnic. It was a comfortable afternoon sitting outside and enjoying the day.
Weekend at Grandparents
Yorktown/Gloucester - Despite not feeling 100%, Ryan had a fun time with his grandparents over the weekend. He started in Yorktown, visiting Grammy and Grumpy.
Grammy pushed Ryan on the swings.
Grumpy tested Ryan's strength.

Flashback Photo of the Week
This blog has had many posts about Ryan's eating. One year ago he finally got to try out his highchair for the first time. He wasn't eating in it yet, but he could sit at the table with Mommy and Daddy during a meal.
Packing Lunches
Woodbridge - Each morning Ryan helps Mommy pack lunches for the day. He picks out Daddy's cereal (most of the time...sometimes he forgets and Daddy doesn't have breakfast), he grabs drinks and he throws away the trash for Mommy. He has become a great helper. Now if we could only get him to clean up his toys.

Happy Mother's Day!!
Happy Mother's Day!!!
Today was a very special day for Mommy. Mommy was showered with love and gifts all day long!
First up was breakfast. Ryan treated Mommy by feeding her breakfast. Nothing like pecan twirls!!!
Next up, Ryan wanted to give Mommy his present. Ryan give his Mommy a gift card for a massage. Mommy was very excited to get the massage and can't wait to use the gift card!
Now it was Daddy's turn to give Mommy some love. Daddy give her two computer games. Mommy absolutely loved them and she can't wait to play them!!

Reading is Fundamental
Woodbridge - One of Ryan's favorite weekend past times is pulling out all of his books and "reading". He will flip through several and go back and forth. He does not want to be read to, he wants to do it himself. Mommy and Daddy have now mastered the book clean up.
The ER
Woodbridge/Fairfax - Last week we had some scary moments with Ryan. On Tuesday, Mommy got the dreaded daycare call that Ryan had a fever and had to go home (fortunately it was already 4:30). At home he was acting OK, but his fever kept creeping up. Around 11:00, Ryan started having labored breathing and his temperature spiked to over 104. Mommy called the doctor and they said to take him to the ER right away. At the ER Ryan was poked and proded, xrayed and tested for every little thing. After many hours, we all got home around 4:00 in the morning.
The next day Daddy followed up with the doctor and found out Ryan had an ear infection. That same afternoon, Ryan's fever spiked again and his breathing became labored. Again, the doctor said take him back to the ER. Mommy and Daddy decided to go to a different ER that specialized in pediatrics (unfortunately Ryan has visited there twice before). This time the doctor said Ryan has a virus. They got his fever down and sent him home.
After several days, Ryan is starting to feel better, but still not quite himself. Mommy and Daddy will follow up again with the doctor on Saturday to make sure Ryan's ear infection is gone and he is on his way back to a clean bill of health.
