Flashback Photo of the Week

Now that Ryan is a year old, Mommy and Daddy want to share in some of the over 3,000 photos they have of him. Obviously we are a little shutter happy. Each week we will be showing off the Flashback Photo of the Week to look back at Ryan one year ago that week. Some of the pictures we may have shown off before and some may be new to the blog. We will try to add any details we may remember from the event. We hope you enjoy!

This picture was taken January 30, 2009. Ryan was dressed and ready to head home from the hospital for the first time. Ryan was born on a snowy day, but the day he went home was sunny and cold.

Smash the Cake

The Beginning

The End

Happy Birthday...Ryan is 1!

One year ago today Ryan Gareth entered this world at 7lbs, 11 oz and 19 3/4 inches. Now at one year he is 20 lbs and 29 1/2 inches.

For his first birthday, Ryan had a lot of excitement . It seemed even Elmo knew it was his birthday because in Ryan's daily morning Elmo's World, Elmo was thinking about birthdays.

When Ryan was at school, Mommy came to visit and Ryan got to eat a cupcake.

Mommy and Daddy picked him early from school and took him to dinner at Red Robin. The wait staff even sang to him which he thought was great.

After dinner, Ryan came home and got presents from Mommy and Daddy. Check out the new trucks.

Ryan's godparents, the Abi-Saab's sent him a fun new book and a cool tray and spoon and fork that have Mickey Mouse on them. Obviously we are still trying to figure out how to properly read a book.

After presents, he got more cake. He had fun smashing it and eating it.

Finally the day ended with a much needed bath.

Happy Birthday to our little man!

First Birthday Present

Woodbridge - As many may know, Ryan will turn the big 1 on Thursday. Today, in the mail, he received his very first birthday present. Miss Vickie, who works with Daddy, sent Ryan a gift card to Target. He is contmeplating what he is going to buy...maybe a new toy (eventhough Mommy thinks he has plenty) or some new clothes (those 12 month sizes aren't going to last forever). Whatever it is, surely it will be chosen wisely. Thanks Miss Vickie!

Messy

Woodbridge - Because it was a bath night, Mommy and Daddy gave Ryan yummy pasta shells and meatballs. As you can see, he really enjoyed them...he ate almost every bite. This is, by far, the messiest meal to date.

What Drives Daddy Crazy

Woodbridge - The one thing Ryan does that drives Daddy crazy is when Ryan pulls the DVDs off the rack. He likes to try to get as many in the floor as he can. However, if there is any consolation to Daddy, Ryan does ALWAYS go for the Ric Flair set. (WOOOOO)

Random Playtime Cuteness

In the event that you can't get enough of this adorable little guy, he is some cute playtime for your enjoyment.
Tent Play

Ryan likes to put his beads around his neck and crawl around.

Yay...score!

I know there are more toys in there.

A favorite pastime, pushing Scout around.

Oh no...Mommy got me and Scout.

Ryan discovered he knock over his dumptruck and climb on top of it.

Forks

Woodbridge - Ryan really loves to feed himself. He really wants nothing of Mommy or Daddy trying to help. Ryan took a new step towards that independence by learning to eat with the fork. He hasn't figured out how to stab the food (obviously that is what Mommys are for), but he can shove it in his mouth. MMMMMMMMMMMM

Picture Time!!

Fairfax - Today, Mommy and Daddy took Ryan to the portrait studio to get some new shots of him. Ryan was on his best behavior and didn't complain once. The photographer took about 140 pictures of Ryan in three different outfits and in different poses.
Below is a small sampling:

Baller

Woodbridge - For Christmas Aunt Mickey sent Ryan a really cool sports activity set. At first he liked to spin the baseball and football, but then Daddy showed him how to dunk a ball. Ryan caught on pretty quickly and even began double dunking. He can't wait until he can start schooling everyone on a real court. For now he will just continue practicing before bed. Thanks Aunt Mickey!

Look, any ball works.
Are you sure that is the score?
